Lots of people will be on the road this Thanksgiving

Not surprisingly, the American Automobile Association, or AAA, is predicting another blockbuster year when it comes to the number of people who will be traveling more than 50 miles this Thanksgiving. AAA is predicting that 49.3 million people will take to the highways and roads this Thanksgiving holiday. This is almost 3 percent higher than last year's number and will be the most people on the road since 2005.

The number of pedestrian deaths continues to climb

Recently, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, released its final report on the number of traffic fatalities across the country in 2018. Although, this report included some encouraging news, it highlighted the fact that pedestrian deaths have continued to climb. At this point, the number of people dying due to pedestrian accidents as it is highest since 1990.

Report: Texas drunk driving problem is round-the-clock

While many people in the Longview area may intuitively think that drunk driving is a problem that happens in the evening and overnight hours, statistics tell a slightly different and surprising story. Across the country, and between 2013 and 2017, there were over 3,900 fatalities related to drunk driving that happened during the so-called brunch hours, that is, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., a time when most do not think drunk driving is a problem.
